Requirements

  • Experience in high precision geodetic/industrial metrology
  • Initial experience in coordination, planning, reporting, QA, and supervision
  • Knowledge of high accuracy survey methods and tools
  • Use of total stations and 3D laser scanning
  • Knowledge of standard adjustment software and least square adjustment
  • Knowledge of data acquisition and processing software
  • Organisation, planning, control, and supervision
  • Spoken and written English or French, with commitment to learn other
  • National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State
  • Master's degree with 2-6 years experience or PhD with <=3 years experience
  • Never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before
  • Valid driving licence

Tasks

  • Join the Geodetic Metrology group
  • Participate in metrology and alignment of components
  • Use advanced surveying tools and software
  • Achieve sub-millimetre accuracy
  • Collaborate on major projects
  • Contribute to North Area consolidation
  • Dismantle existing beamlines
  • Install new beamlines
  • Participate in coordination meetings
  • Review schedules
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
  • Prepare and check input quality
  • Conduct and supervise geometrical measurements
  • Use 3D geodetic techniques
  • Coordinate survey activities
  • Perform network measurements
  • Supervise installation tasks
  • Execute alignment processes
  • Process data using 3D least-squares adjustment
  • Conduct advanced stochastic analysis
  • Prepare technical documentation
  • Present results
  • Define tracing strategy for new beamlines
  • Contribute to R&D activities
  • Develop alignment monitoring systems
  • Test and maintain surveying software
  • Supervise external contractors
  • Supervise students
  • Supervise team members
