Survey Engineer(m/w/x)
Sub-millimetre precision alignment of components for particle accelerators. High precision geodetic/industrial metrology experience required. 30 days paid leave, comprehensive health insurance.
Requirements
- Experience in high precision geodetic/industrial metrology
- Initial experience in coordination, planning, reporting, QA, and supervision
- Knowledge of high accuracy survey methods and tools
- Use of total stations and 3D laser scanning
- Knowledge of standard adjustment software and least square adjustment
- Knowledge of data acquisition and processing software
- Organisation, planning, control, and supervision
- Spoken and written English or French, with commitment to learn other
- National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State
- Master's degree with 2-6 years experience or PhD with <=3 years experience
- Never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before
- Valid driving licence
Tasks
- Join the Geodetic Metrology group
- Participate in metrology and alignment of components
- Use advanced surveying tools and software
- Achieve sub-millimetre accuracy
- Collaborate on major projects
- Contribute to North Area consolidation
- Dismantle existing beamlines
- Install new beamlines
- Participate in coordination meetings
- Review schedules
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
- Prepare and check input quality
- Conduct and supervise geometrical measurements
- Use 3D geodetic techniques
- Coordinate survey activities
- Perform network measurements
- Supervise installation tasks
- Execute alignment processes
- Process data using 3D least-squares adjustment
- Conduct advanced stochastic analysis
- Prepare technical documentation
- Present results
- Define tracing strategy for new beamlines
- Contribute to R&D activities
- Develop alignment monitoring systems
- Test and maintain surveying software
- Supervise external contractors
- Supervise students
- Supervise team members
