Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in applied physics
- Proven understanding of HEP experiments and RICH detector designs
- Experience in RICH detector tests (laboratory and test beams)
- Familiarity with readout electronics, DAQ systems, and laboratory infrastructure
- Proficiency in scientific writing and oral presentations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in international research environment
- Extensive knowledge of laboratory equipment and single-photon detector measurement techniques
- Reliable, well-organised, and proactive approach to experimental work and calibration data analyses
- Proficiency in C++, Python, and ROOT programming languages
- Spoken and written English, commitment to learn French
- Nationality of CERN Member or Associate Member State
- Professional background in Physics or related field, with Master's degree and 2-6 years post-graduation experience, or PhD with no more than 3 years post-graduation experience
- No prior CERN fellow or graduate contract
Tasks
- Study novel SiPM detectors at cryogenic temperatures
- Calibrate sub-100 ps time domain readout electronics
- Measure prototype optics for RICH detectors
- Conduct beam tests
- Perform laboratory measurements using picosecond pulsed laser illumination
- Analyze the performance of prototypes
- Perform simulations
- Develop new detector designs and solutions
- Participate in LHCb RICH commissioning
- Calibrate detector upgrade electronics during LS3
- Lead qualification of prototype optics and RICH mirrors for future upgrades
- Collaborate on beam tests
- Collaborate on laboratory characterization of single-photon prototypes
- Analyze data from prototype characterization
- Engage with module integration studies of SiPM sensors
- Engage with SiPM sensor system tests at cryogenic temperatures
