**Working student at Telekom.** Do you want to put the theory you have learned into practice and experience and help shape the digital world of tomorrow today? Then you've come to the right place! We can make coffee and copy it ourselves. We are looking for working students like you who want to advance the expansion of the networked world every day with team spirit as well as a willingness to innovate and perform!
**Your Tasks**
We are looking for enrolled students to support our team for up to 20 hours per week for a minimum of 6 to a maximum of 24 months in the following tasks:
* As a working student Research & Development Engineer (Quantum-inspired Optimization) you will be part of our innovative CTO team that is prototyping Quantum(-inspired) Computing offerings and develops pioneering quantum-inspired optimization use cases for our clients
* Together with application-specialists you will analyze and realize potential applications for quantum-inspired optimization in sectors like automotive, public, health and public transport, focusing on the short- or mid-term usability of these advanced optimization methods
* You will contribute to implementation projects with a strong focus on Python development, assist in co-innovation workshops, and help establish standardized optimization services with and for our customers
**Your Profile**
* You are pursuing a university degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer science, Physics or comparable fields
* Proven Python development skills and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, and ideally optimization solvers)
* Basic experience and strong interest in combinatorial optimization, ideally with some experience in quantum-inspired optimization algorithms (e.g., simulated annealing, QUBO models)
* Basic expertise and strong interest in quantum computing
* Basic experience in mathematical methods for optimization, such as linear programming, integer programming, graph theory, and heuristics, is a strong advantage
* First experience in translating industry challenges into underlying, general mathematical models, particularly Quadratic Unconstrained Binary Optimization (QUBO) models, is a strong advantage
* Enthusiasm for advanced optimization technologies and a high motivation to explore new algorithmic approaches
* Competencies in using basic software engineering principles and tools
* Fluency in written and spoken English; good German language skills are a plus
* Strong analytical skills and a strong sense of personal responsibility
Severely disabled applicants with equal qualification will be given particular consideration.
