Then join our accomplished team! ## ## Your personal sphere of influence: The University of Vienna (20 faculties and centres, 184 fields of study, approx. 10.400 members of staff, about 90.000 students) seeks to fill the position of a University assistant (prae doc) as soon as possible, limited to 4 years at the Research Group Data Mining and Machine Learning at the Faculty of Computer Science under the supervision of Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Inform.Univ. Dr. Claudia Plant The Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Vienna has world-leading researchers in computer science who conduct both basic and applied research. As a member of the Data Mining team, you will work on exciting data mining projects and have the opportunity to take on responsibility at an early stage, publish the results at leading international conferences and exchange ideas with international and interdisciplinary cooperation partners. ## ## Your future tasks: Participation in research, teaching and administration: * Participation in research projects / research studies * Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations * We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months. * Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement * Supervision of students * Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums * Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration The research should focus on clustering methods, especially deep clustering and representation learning for complex and high-dimensional data. ## ## This is part of your personality: * Master in Computer Science or equivalent qualification with a strong focus on Computer Science with excellent marks. * Very good German and English language skills. * Very good mathematical understanding * Very good programming skills, mastery of at least two of the following programming languages: Java, C++, C#, Python * Strong ability to work in teams * Perseverance and ability to make things done * High motivation to publish at the top-level conferences **Desirable qualifications are** * Experience with clustering, representation learning, deep learning. * Experience with applications of data mining methods to real data from different domains, especially in historical or social sciences ## ## What we offer: **Work-life balance:** Our employees enjoy flexible working hours and can partially work remotely. **Inspiring working atmosphere:** You are a part of an international academic team in a healthy and fair working environment. **Good public transport connections:** Your workplace is easily accessible by public transport. **Internal further training & Coaching:** Opportunity to deepen your skills on an ongoing basis.
