The research areas developed by the team are in particular related to kinetic theory applied to the study of emergent phenomena in biology, medicine and social sciences. In this project, we will examine open mathematical problems related to explaining emergent dynamics in collective motion, applying tools from kinetic theory. This includes questions regarding stationary behaviour in such systems, as well as the characterisation of phase transitions in group behaviour. Our ideal candidate will have prior exposure to modern developments in biomathematics and will also have a solid knowledge of mathematical analysis, partial differential equations as well as kinetic theory and will be able to take part in research projects related to the above.
