# Tenure-Track Professorship in Freshwater Animal Ecology ## The position Freshwater ecosystems are hot spots of biodiversity. Intact freshwater ecosystems have an invaluable quality for human welfare. Today these ecosystems are exposed to dramatic dynamics and pressures such as weather extremes (floods and droughts, heat waves), pollution from increasing diffusive sources (agriculture, wastewater discharge, atmosphere) and the invasion of exotic species. With great value as bioindicators, freshwater invertebrates are target organisms of choice to study the response of freshwater ecosystems in the Anthropocene and to develop future conservation and management options. The University of Vienna seeks to fill a Tenure Track position in the field of Freshwater Animal Ecology. The successful candidate should have an excellent track record and expertise in freshwater invertebrate ecology.
