They will work on new developments in computer science and digital best practice in close cooperation with the Austrian and European Digital Humanities Community. The TT professorship collaborates with the existing professorship for Historical Auxiliary Sciences with a focus on the Middle Ages in order to implement a methodologically and chronologically comprehensive strategy. Through teaching, research and networking activities, the professorship will contribute significantly to building the profile of the Institute of Austrian Historical Research (IÖG) and to cross-institutional cooperation within the framework of the faculty’s focus on ‘Text and Edition / Editorial Practice’, strengthening the strategic position of the University of Vienna in the further development of the digital humanities’ infrastructure within the university as well as in national and transnational contexts.
The tenure-track professorship is based at the Institute for Austrian Historical Research and maintains close collaboration with the Professorship for Digital Humanities as well as with numerous research networks and subunits both within and beyond the faculty. Together with the other members of the faculty, the professorship participates in the Doctoral School of Historical and Cultural Studies. The Master’s program in Digital Humanities provides an institutional platform for cooperation between the Faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies and the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies. The tenure-track professorship also collaborates with research focus and faculty key research area (FSP) “Digital Humanities,” as well as with the FSP “Text and Edition / Editorial Studies.” Cooperation partners include representatives of these academic fields in other faculties, as well as those in the university’s infrastructure and other Austrian DH-oriented research institutions and consortia (Austrian Academy of Sciences, Austrian National Library, University of Graz, Clariah-at).
