# Tenure-Track Professorship in Didactics of Mathematics
## The position
We are looking for candidates with an outstanding research profile in mathematics education, excellent teaching skills in the subject-specific training of secondary school mathematics teachers, and ideally experience in teaching at the secondary level and in teacher training. The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses in teacher training programs, particularly in the field of mathematics education (language of instruction: German). In addition, the position involves the establishment of an independent research agenda and the development of innovative teaching approaches.
The position will be based at the Faculty of Mathematics and the Centre for Teacher Education. The mathematics didactics group plays a crucial role in the teacher education at secondary level, with a particular focus on courses covering the didactic aspects of mathematics. The group is dedicated to innovative teaching, excellent research, and development in mathematics education at secondary and tertiary levels. At the University of Vienna, the group collaborates with other disciplines’ didactics groups within the framework of the Centre for Teacher Education. The group also collaborates with university colleges for teacher education within the “Verbund Nord/Ost” and maintains partnerships with the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education in the areas of research, curriculum development and the mathematics school-leaving exam. The members of the group also work as authors and editors of mathematics schoolbook series and cooperate with schools in research and teaching.

* Experience in designing of and participating in research projects, ability to lead research groups and acquire third-party funding
* Enthusiasm for excellent teaching and supervision at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral level
We expect the successful candidate to acquire, within three years, proficiency in German sufficient for teaching in bachelor's programmes and for participation in university committees.
