The **Department of Research Information Systems** in cooperation with the **Data Science Research Unit**, **Institute of Information Systems Engineering**, is offering a position as student employee (all genders) in research/administration for 20 hours/week. Expected start: August 2025. This position is limited until 28.2.2026, but no longer than the completion of a master's or diploma degree. This position is offered within the project "Weiterentwicklung der TU Wien Forschungsmatrix zu Research Spheres."
TU Wien is improving its ability to leverage data for insights into institutional performance and to compare its research contributions in a global context. This involves combining full-text publications from TU Wien’s reposiTUm, external metadata and publications from platforms such as CORE and OpenAlex, and internal databases and knowledge graphs of people and research projects.
**The successful candidate will contribute to this process by carrying out the following tasks:**

* Development and evaluation of approaches to extract information from scientific publications
* Interlinking TU Wien’s data sources with online platforms to identify research trends and enable comparative analyses
* Regular consultation with and presentation of results to stakeholders
* Development of prototypes demonstrating the most successful approaches
* The development work will include Natural Language Processing techniques, including (but not limited to) the use of Large Language Models for information extraction and reasoning over full-text publications.
**NOTE**: It is possible to carry out research toward a master’s thesis as part of this employment.
