# Student assistant (m/f/d) in the field of laser beam drilling of recycling filters
At the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT, we may not be developing swords against the dark side of the Force, but our developments often sound like science fiction. This is because we are shaping the technologies and processes for the future of digital production, packaging and scanning technology and many other laser-based applications, e.g. 3D printing and laser fusion.
Are you looking for an exciting job as a student assistant (m/f/d) in the field of laser drilling of recycling filters that will change the future? Then become part of our #OneTeam.
You will support our team in planning, setting up and conducting experiments to further develop laser drilling processes for recycling filters. These filters consist of stainless steel plates with over 100,000 micrometre-sized holes through which melted plastic is pressed in the recycling process. Foreign matter such as wood or metal is separated out in the process.
Your work will focus on optimising laser beam drilling - by using different laser systems, optics and varying process parameters. You will also use high-speed camera recordings to analyse the melt ejection and its influence on the surface quality of the workpiece.
**What you will do**
* You will be actively involved in planning, setting up and conducting experiments
* You will be responsible for the design and construction of components for various experimental setups
* You will also analyse and present the results of the experiments, for example through microscopic examinations of boreholes or the evaluation of high-speed camera images
**What you bring to the table**
* You are studying physics, mechanical engineering or materials science
* You work independently and carefully and take a solution-oriented approach to challenges
* Ideally, you are characterised by a keen technical interest and manual skills
* Ideally, you have previous knowledge of laser technology, design or programming - this is an advantage, but not a requirement
**What you can expect**
👥 **Team spirit:** Creative and interdisciplinary working environment, highly motivated team of experts, flat hierarchies and a ‘you’ culture.
🖥 **Workplace:** Excellent equipment in terms of machines and devices.
💪 **Co-design:** Independent project management and room for innovative ideas in applied research.
🧘 **Work-life balance:** Benefit from flexible working hours on a basis of trust.
📈 **Development opportunities:** With us, you have the opportunity for individual development through a wide range of further training programmes.
➕ **Advantages:** Opportunity to benefit from exciting corporate benefits.
🚐 **Travel:** Good transport connections, parking spaces directly in front of the institute, an e-charging station and a multi-storey car park.
🕶 **Prospects:** The opportunity to write your thesis.
Remuneration is based on the general works agreement on the employment of auxiliary staff.
The weekly working time is 12-20 hours and will be agreed individually at the interview.
The position is initially limited to 12 months, but we are looking for a longer-term position to accompany your studies.
We value and promote the diversity of our employees' skills and therefore welcome all applications - regardless of age, gender, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion, ideology, disability, sexual orientation and identity. Severely disabled people are given preference if they are equally suitable.
Our tasks are varied and adaptable - we work together with applicants with disabilities to find solutions that best promote their abilities. The same applies if they do not meet all the profile requirements due to a disability.
**Job Segment:**
Mechanical Engineer, Project Manager, Social Media, Materials Science, Technology, Engineering, Marketing, Research, Science
