# SQL Server DBA / Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) **Pfäffikon, Switzerland** | **Full time** **Job Description** **About the Role** As a SQL Server DBA / Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE), you ensure our database platform is stable, secure, and performant. You own the full lifecycle of our SQL Server estates — from designing and deploying on‑premises and Azure environments, to automating operational tasks, monitoring health, and crafting robust backup/recovery strategies. Working closely with developers, system engineers, and other stakeholders, you mentor colleagues, streamline deployments, and proactively tackle reliability, security, or performance issues, all in support of our mission to deliver a stable database platform. **In this role, you** * Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and migrate SQL Server instances—on-premises and in Azure—while architecting scalable platforms to meet growing data volumes; * Enforce best-practice security (roles, permissions, encryption, auditing) and lead regular compliance reviews, documenting controls to satisfy organizational and regulatory requirements; * Design, automate, and test backup schedules, retention policies, and restore procedures; build and validate failover-clustering and DR plans to guarantee business continuity; * Proactively monitor health metrics, logs, and resource usage; troubleshoot slow environments, network issues, resource bottlenecks, and lead post-mortems to prevent future incidents; * Develop PowerShell scripts and leverage Git for version control of environment‑as‑code and infrastructure deployments; * Produce and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and architecture decision records; mentor developers and DBAs—conveying complex SQL Server concepts in clear, actionable terms; * Serve as a trusted advisor and 2nd/3rd-line escalation point for database incidents; partner with application developers, system engineers, and stakeholders to align on storage, networking, and virtualization requirements. **Requirements** * You worked at least 5 years with SQL Server administration, preferably as a production DBA, or with a focus on operations; * You bring hands‑on experience to the table with backup/recovery strategies, disaster‑recovery planning, performance tuning, index management, and query optimization; * You could prove your proficiency in PowerShell automation and Git for source control in the past; * If you have experience with Azure SQL Database / Managed Instance, or are familiar with other RDBMS (e.g., Oracle, MySQL) or NoSQL platforms it is a plus; * Building CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions is not new for you; * Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, with proven ability to document procedures and share knowledge. Adept at troubleshooting alongside developers, system engineers, and other stakeholders; * Your are comfortable mentoring peers, leading root-cause analysis, and driving continuous improvement; * Proactive problem‐solving with strategic foresight and a can-do attitude towards reliability and performance challenges are the bread-and-butter parts of your work; * You are skilled at managing stakeholder relationships, negotiating trade-offs, and presenting technical recommendations clearly. **What you can expect** * We provide **modern working conditions**, including work-from-home options, flexible hours and a home office allowance to ensure staff members have a work environment equipped with the latest technology; * A **diverse culture** founded on mutual respect, teamwork and appreciation awaits you at LGT Capital Partners. We go the extra mile to generate impact; * **We empower and invest in you**: your professional development and personal growth are our priority. We offer various internal and external training opportunities that are aligned with your ambitions and our business needs. If you are interested, you can also enhance your German or English language skills; * We are proud to be owned by the **Princely Family of Liechtenstein** and our company is inspired by its entrepreneurial spirit; * **Commitment to ESG**: our approach to business is influenced by the Princely Family’s long-term perspective. Sustainability is key for us and has shaped our actions since 2002; * You benefit from **favorable terms and conditions** if you wish to participate in LGT Capital Partners’ investment programs or to use LGT banking products and services.
