**Penzberg** | **Full time**
### The Position
A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate.
To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love.
That’s what makes us Roche.
In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed.
The position is located in the Computational Protein Engineering department within the Discovery organization of pRED’s Large Molecule Research, the “birthplace” of novel therapeutic antibodies and next generation biologics. We closely collaborate with our therapeutic areas and functions to convert therapeutic hypotheses into innovative therapeutics.
**Job mission**
We are offering an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Scientist (m/f/d) in computational protein drug design to join our highly engaged team. You will collaborate with experts in protein engineering, structural and molecular biology, in-vitro display and protein chemistry using state-of-the art computational technologies.
**Your impact**
* Develop and apply *in-silico* methods, including evolving AI approaches, to discover, design, and optimize new biotherapeutic candidates and bring your contributions directly into portfolio project teams.
* Explore, test and develop emerging in-silico methods for protein engineering and property optimization and integrate them into the discovery workflow.
* Apply machine learning methods on immune repertoire sequencing data to discover and *in-silico* generate antibodies and antibody libraries with favorable drug-like properties.
* Build and maintain trustful relationships and effective collaboration with internal and external partners.
**Your profile**
* You thrive in a dynamic, inclusive environment which gives you full accountability for your own contributions and development
* You have a PhD in biochemistry, bioinformatics, structural biology or related field and at least 3 years experience in drug discovery
* A strong expertise in protein engineering, biotherapeutics discovery and in vitro display technologies is key
* With a comprehensive knowledge in 3D modeling of proteins and scientific programming (Python in Linux and HPC environments) you can show a track record and significant impact in the field of protein engineering and design (e.g. via key publications, patents, or presentations)
* Ideally, you possess expertise in display library design and NGS data handling.
* Experience in successfully leading projects and cross-functional activities is highly valued
This position is limited to 2 years.
Your final Scientific Career Ladder (SCL)-Title will be evaluated according to your individual scientific experience.
**We are looking forward to your application!**
