We are looking for a committed and quality-driven Senior Assurance Scheme Officer to join our Assurance Scheme and Competence Management team – a diverse, international unit at the intersection of Fairtrade International (as Scheme Owner) and FLOCERT’s Operations Department, where all certification activities are implemented.
In this strategic role, you will help coordinate the implementation of standard updates and ensure that our assurance framework continues to meet high-quality expectations and the requirements of ISO 17065. You will also help develop accessible, practical tools to maintain and strengthen the competence of our certification staff and auditors.
We are currently inviting applications from both colleagues based in the regions and team members at the Bonn office with relevant expertise in certification systems (ideally Fairtrade), accreditation, smart data use, and knowledge transfer.

## Your responsibilities
* Identify gaps or weaknesses in existing assurance schemes and drive targeted improvements
* Ensure certification staff receive the training they need by working closely with the Competence Manager and collaborating across the team
* Maintain and further develop system documentation and tools related to the assurance schemes
* Collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders – including FLOCERT’s regional teams, the ITDI team (regarding software developments linked to certification), Comms and Credibility Assurance, and Fairtrade International (on Standard interpretation and change implementation)
* Lead and coordinate projects within the scope of assurance and competence development
## Your qualifications, experience and skills
* University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Food Science, Business, Agronomy, Law, Economics, Sociology, or a related discipline
* Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in a customer-focused, administrative, or stakeholder-driven environment
* At least 3 years of experience in Fairtrade certification
* Familiarity with other certification systems (e.g. Organic, FSC, MSC, SA8000 etc.)
* Sound understanding of ISO standards, particularly the ISO 17000 series
* Fluency in spoken and written English; additional fluency in French, Spanish or Portuguese is a strong asset
* Proactive, reliable, and adaptable working style with a hands-on attitude
* Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
* Strong cross-cultural communication skills and sensitivity in working with international teams
* Proven project management experience
