Reporting to the Business Unit Controller the Senior Accountant is responsible for all relevant financial and accounting activities (General Ledger, Financial Reporting, Audits, Taxation). You will work seamlessly with both the business and the global finance organization, collaborating with peers at our manufacturing sites to identify best practices and standardize processes across the organization.
This role is part of the finance department located at our Aquafides site in the town of Schörfling am Attersee, Austria.
**In this role, a typical day will look like:**
* Play an active part in a timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, including preparation and posting of journal entries, GL account reconciliations.
* Ensure integrity and timeliness of accounting information by verifying local and US-GAAP compliance and reconciling transactions with appropriate supporting documentation.
* Create and maintain a documented system of accounting processes and policies that meets SOX requirements.
* Coordinate with internal and external auditors during financial, tax, and operational audits.
* Assist with evaluation, implementation, and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable laws and regulations.
* Support the sales and operating functions with financial insight, e.g on revenue recognition and inventory control.
* Prepare and/or assist the filing of tax returns and other locally required reports.
* Assist in implementation and maintenance of financial software and systems.
**The essential requirements of the job include:**
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; advantage in holding, or close to obtaining, a professional accounting designation – CPA / ACCA or equivalent.
* 5-7 years of progressive finance and accounting experience -in a manufacturing environment preferred.
* Working knowledge of US and Local GAAP required
* Use of financial reporting tools including experience with a large ERP, Baan, LN, MIS, SAP, and Microsoft office Suite with intermediate Excel skills.
* VAT and Sales Tax experience preferred.
* Experience working with internal & external auditors.
* Fluent communication skills in both German and English
