# Scientist Cellular Fluorescence Microscopy in Drug Discovery (m/f/d)
**Penzberg** | **Full time**
### The Position
In Roche’s **Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED),** we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed.
The position is located in the Immune and Cell Biology Department, within the Discovery unit of the pRED’s Large Molecules Research, where the discovery of next generation biotherapeutics is the primary focus. We closely collaborate with technical and biological functions to convert molecule sequences into innovative therapeutics.
Unwavering focus, collaborative teamwork and exceptional delivery are key behaviors that drive our mission of doing now what patients need next. Together, we can be transformative.
****Job mission****
We are offering an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Microscopy Scientist (m/f/d) to work with a highly engaged team of cell biologists and confocal microscopy experts with a focus on molecule screening and lead selection in primary/iPSC-derived cells and complex 3D-cellular model systems. You will be responsible for developing and executing 2D/3D-microscopy based cellular assays for selection and characterization of therapeutic molecules in cross-functional teams including molecular engineers and data scientists*.*
****Your impact****
* Designing and executing imaging-based cellular assays by applying your scientific knowledge in cell/immune/neurobiology as an active member in portfolio project teams
* Ensuring state-of-the-art and maintenance of microscopy instruments, training users, staying on top of technical developments, identifying gaps and finding solutions to key technical challenges
* Collaborating with key partners across the pRED network to enhance technological platforms, methodologies and assays
* Driving the implementation of image-analysis pipelines and data management workflows in collaboration with microscopy and data analytics experts across the global pRED organization
****Your profile****
You thrive in and are dedicated to establishing a culture of mutual support, cross-training, continuous learning and self-organization to meet project and functional goals. Furthermore, you know how to prioritize, how to create clarity and focus. Besides that:
* You bring a robust background in cell biology (preferably immune and/or neurobiology) along with several years of hands-on experience in fluorescence microscopy. This includes profound practical expertise in complex cell culture and sample preparation for imaging.
* You are proficient in processing and analyzing large imaging datasets using state-of-the-art image analysis software, capable of setting up image analysis pipelines, and writing small scripts or macros
* You are experienced in employing advanced fluorescence microscopy techniques, such as FLIM, FISH/multiplexing, and/or super-resolution microscopy, to explore key biological questions or apply high-content screening in pharmaceutical drug discovery context
* Experience with handling and imaging disease-relevant human organoid or 3D cell culture model systems is highly desirable
* You have recently completed your PhD in biology, neurobiology, biotechnology, or a related field and are enthusiastic about applying your expertise hands-on. Initial industrial experience would be advantageous but is not required
* You are resourceful and flexible in problem solving and in working in a collaborative and inclusive manner with strong oral and written communication skills in English
