Anforderungen
- •Master's degree or doctorate in atmospheric research, computer science, physics, engineering, or related field
- •Strong knowledge in Fortran, C++, and Python
- •Solid background in build engineering, Makefile development, compiler configurations, and optimization
- •Good software development practices, version control with Git, documentation, and CI/CD workflows
- •Substantial experience with MPI and OpenMP, background in CUDA or ROCm advantageous
- •Familiarity with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow, and AI models
- •Strong communication and presentation skills, effective teamwork
- •Good written and spoken English; German language skills advantageous

Deine Aufgaben
- •Ensure sustainability of community ESM codes
- •Enable adoption of modern HPC systems
- •Optimize performance of ESM codes for high-performance computing
- •Port ESM codes to heterogeneous HPC architectures, including GPU systems
- •Contribute to model development for improved Earth system simulations
- •Support software development and user outreach in the NHR ESM community
- •Conduct research in atmospheric modeling and analyze ESM simulations
- •Participate in scientific conferences and contribute to peer-reviewed publications
