## Pilot Plant Operator (f/m/x) ###### Permanent employee, Full-time ·Essen --- ##### Are you ready to save the planet? We will help prevent a climate crisis by freeing the world from fossil fuels. Our breakthrough direct air capture technology captures CO2 from the atmosphere and produces hydrogen in parallel. The clock is ticking. What are you waiting for? Our goals are ambitious. At Greenlyte Carbon Technologies, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating equipment belonging to the Test Engineering Team. This includes mechanical components and also basic chemical preparation/handling. The test engineering team focuses on scaling up our DAC technology and the job requires solution oriented, ambitious people willing to work on multidisciplinary challenges. ##### How you'll contribute * Take responsibility for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of our DAC prototypes and pilot-plants. * Ensure safe handling of chemicals and components, strictly adhering to health and safety standards. * Develop test plans and document and analyze test results. * Support the setup and testing of mechanical and chemical systems, ensuring they operate at optimal performance levels. * Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve plant issues efficiently and effectively. * Maintain detailed and accurate records of all tests, inspections, repairs, and system updates. * Work collaboratively with engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless and efficient plant operations. Actively contribute to regular test engineering meetings by providing insights and suggestions for improving test stand operations and processes. **Your first 12 months in the role: expectations and deliverables** **Months 0-3** * Complete onboarding and comprehensive safety training programs to ensure readiness for plant operations. * Familiarize yourself with plant equipment, chemical handling protocols, and safety guidelines. * Shadow experienced team members to understand workflows, operational best practices, and the functioning of different test stands and their components. * Assist with basic tasks, progressively taking on simple assignments independently. * Build foundational skills in using PLCs and HMIs. **Months 3-6** * Take on more complex tasks with limited supervision, demonstrating growing independence and technical confidence. * Take responsibility for the independent operation of our plants and the maintenance of important mechanical components. * Contribute to troubleshooting and minor repair tasks under guidance, improving problem-solving capabilities. * Begin working with advanced tools and software, including gaining familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Software (MES) used at Greenlyte Carbon Technologies. * Show increased accountability by taking ownership of common shop-floor responsibilities and operations. **Months 6-12** * Independently manage routine testing, maintenance, and operational tasks with confidence and precision. * Lead smaller projects or testing initiatives, requiring minimal oversight. * Demonstrate advanced skills in troubleshooting mechanical and chemical systems, providing effective solutions. * Mentor and train new or junior team members in operational procedures and best practices. * Actively participate in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance plant efficiency. * Expand your knowledge of advanced tools, systems, and emerging technologies to stay ahead in the field. ##### About you * Ausbildung in a technical profession (desirably "Industriemeister" or "Techniker") or Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. * Hands-on knowledge of pumps, pipes, fittings, and industrial maintenance techniques as well as handling chemical and planing experiments. * Familiarity with safety protocols, industry regulations, and basic chemical handling. * Proficiency in English; German is a plus. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team. * Physical ability to handle heavy equipment and work in a chemical plant setting. * Willingness to work in varying conditions while adhering to strict safety standards. * Class B driver's license (car) is required to reach nearby facilities.
