As Patent Attorney Biology/Biotech  (all genders) within our Global Biologics Patent team in Sanofi´s Global Intellectual Property Department, based in Frankfurt, you will be dedicated to all aspects of patent protection for a diverse range of programs across Sanofi's global business units in the biologics area. You will advise on a wide range of intellectual property matters, including patent preparation and prosecution, worldwide patent portfolio management, overall IP strategy, patentability, and freedom-to-operate analyses. **Main responsibilities:** * Interact with clients (including Research & Development, platform and project management, Business Development) in Europe and in the US on a daily basis to provide client counselling and proactively solicit invention disclosures. * Proactively counsel clients about IP strategy related to client’s business. * Prepare, file and prosecute EPO, US and foreign patent applications in biologics area. * Provide patentability evaluation of IP related to internal or external projects. * Conduct, direct and analyze searches and render opinions on freedom-to-operate and on validity, non-infringement and design-around of third-party patents. * Manage post grant proceedings, such as oppositions, litigation. * Participate in the drafting, reviewing and negotiation of agreements covering intellectual property rights. * Review proposed research papers and other publications for any impact on patent estate. * Develop and maintain an appropriate network inside Sanofi’s Biologics Business Units and Global IP group. # *About you* * **Experience**: * Ideally 10 years of patent law experience gained in-house or in a law firm * Mandatory requirement is experience in handling complex biologics IP matters, such as antibodies, peptides, and/or nucleic acids, and in the field of biologics platform activities. * Experience in handling EPO oppositions and appeals, with good advocacy skills, would be a plus. * **Soft and technical skills**: * A motivated proactive person, exhibiting initiative to contribute to the team in more ways than mere handling of assigned projects. * Able to independently handle drafting and prosecution of patent applications. * Excellent communication skills and agility working with a team of global colleagues. * **Education**: * Graduate degree (Diploma, Master, PhD) in a biological or biochemistry science, ideally with PhD. * European Patent Attorney qualification is mandatory with ideally at least 2-3 years post-EQE experience * German Patent Attorney qualification would be a plus * **Languages**: Fluent in German and English. # *Why choose us?* * Bring the miracles of science to life alongside a supportive, future-focused team. * Discover endless opportunities to grow your talent and drive your career, whether it’s through a promotion or lateral move, at home or internationally. * Benefit from a well-thought-out benefits package that rewards your contribution and commitment. * We take care of you and your family with a wide range of health and social such as high-quality healthcare, numerous prevention programs and coverage for long-term illness.
