## OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
The UNESCO Liaison Office in Geneva (GLO) liaises with the UN, its Specialized Agencies based in Geneva, UN Programmes and Funds as well as with other actions within “*Genève Internationale*”. The Office also develops and maintains cooperation with Swiss-based institutions starting with the Swiss National Commission for UNESCO, universities (UNIGE, The Graduate Institute, EPFL, etc), as well as the civil society organizations (NGOs and philanthropic organizations).
The Office’s core tasks include inter alias:
* representing UNESCO in different inter-governmental and UN inter-agency meetings and to many diverse cooperation platforms in Geneva;
* advocating for UNESCO’s mandate, strategic programme priorities and orientations and acting as a clearing house for information of relevance to UNESCO;
* developing new partnerships with UN entities, donors, the private sector and the civil society.

**Purpose of the Assignment and Supervisory Arrangements**
Under the direct authority of the Director of the UNESCO Liaison Office in Geneva (GLO) and the direct supervision of the Director of Partnerships (BSP), the Individual Consultant shall initiate ideas and perform creative tasks for specific areas of assignment within the framework of the Organization’s information and partnerships programmes; research and develop materials for specific information topics, manage existing partnerships and secure new opportunities, manage communications and resources to maintain strong, productive relationships.
## Long Description
**Scope of work**
The Individual Consultant shall ensure the implementation of activities under the framework of the aforementioned project. In particular, the Individual Consultant shall:
* Support programmes designed to provide information about the Organization;
* Assist with liaison with UN Agencies for a better understanding of the Geneva Liaison Office’s aims and activities including with non-governmental organizations;
* Prepare briefing materials for officials in the Geneva Liaison office and / or Headquarters, particularly related to partnership opportunities;
* Select and assemble information / material as required by the Director;
* Draft, review and edit background material and regular office correspondence, as assigned;
* Support the establishment of partnerships in collaboration with BSP;
* Coordinate meetings with existing and potential partners on topics related to the mandate of the Organization;
* Perform other tasks related to the section’s work on Partnerships and Communication as requested by the Director of BSP or the Director of the Liaison Office.

## REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* A University degree preferably complemented by a Master degree in social sciences such as international relations, philosophy, human rights related fields.
* At least 2 years Progressively responsible professional experience in a multilateral work environment, working directly with government representatives.
* Excellent English and proficiency in French
## DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience working with UNESCO particularly in the fields of expertise in the BSP Sector preferably in the area of partnerships.
* Excellent French, knowledge of other languages

**Deliverables and remuneration**
* At the end of each month, the Individual Consultant will report directly, to the Director of the Liaison Office in Geneva (GLO), on the progress of their work and missions before any payment.
* The GLO will provide an office, a professional email address and the computer equipment required to accomplish the assigned tasks.
* If the Individual Consultant has to participate in field missions, the GLO will provide ATKS (economy class and direct route) and 100% DSA & TF.
* The Individual Consultant has to provide a medical certificate and proof of the health insurance coverage valid in Switzerland and during missions abroad before starting the consultation with the GLO.
