Open Source Community Engineer(m/w/x)

In this role, you will serve as an ambassador for a public-sector open-source AI initiative, providing technical expertise, nurturing a community, and driving engagement through events and feedback initiatives while collaborating closely with stakeholders.

Anforderungen

• •2+ years of experience in software engineering, AI engineering, or open-source development
• •Strong Python skills; familiarity with Haystack or other LLM/IR frameworks
• •Experience working with or in public sector environments
• •Excellent communication skills and ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences
• •Ability to lead workshops and explain technical concepts clearly
• •Comfortable working on-site in Southern Germany (minimum 2.5 days/week)
• •Fluency in German and English
• •Experience in DevRel, community management, or developer advocacy
• •Background contributing to open-source projects
• •Knowledge of vector search, NLP, LLMs, or retrieval-augmented architectures
• •Familiarity with public-sector procurement, data governance, or institutional collaboration
• •Experience organizing tech events, meetups, or hackathons
