# Internship Material Flow & Inventory Management
**CH - Visp** | **Full time**
**Key Responsibilities**
As an intern, your main tasks will include:
* **Material Flow Optimization:**
* Improve the return flow of materials (e.g., expired items, additional requests).
* Identify and address delays caused by discrepancies in cold storage areas (2–8°C and –20°C).
* Investigate materials that remain in storage racks unnecessarily long, including replenished items.
* Support efforts to reduce expired materials and apply FEFO (First Expired, First Out) principles.
* **Inventory and Suite Management:**
* Conduct monthly stocktaking activities.
* Monitor and manage raw material availability and placement in the suite.
* Ensure proper Weighing & Dispensing (W&D) procedures are followed.
* Increase awareness and provide training for operators on best practices in material handling.
* Support accurate inventory tracking and storage condition compliance.
* **System Use & Cross-Functional Collaboration:**
* Operate within our SAP (ERP) and MES (Manufacturing Execution System) platforms for material tracking and documentation.
* Act as an interface between the logistics and operations teams to ensure smooth coordination and communication.
* **Process Improvement:**
* Apply the **Lonza Business Management System (LBMS)** methodology and principles , including:
* Problem solving and root cause analysis
* Waste reduction
* Process standardization and continuous improvement
