# Internship in Multidisciplinary Analysis and Optimization and Uncertainty Quantification for Flight Physics Applications (d/f/m) **Manching** | **Full time** ****Job Description:**** Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an # Internship in Multidisciplinary Analysis and Optimization and Uncertainty Quantification for Flight Physics Applications (d/f/m) Do you want to push boundaries at the heart of Airbus together with a team in Flight Physics? We want to pave the way into a more digital, sustainable and safer future. Come join us. Flight Physics is responsible for the design and characterization for all Air Power programs along their product life cycle. We use numerical simulations and testing to understand the aircraft behaviour and to create and deliver aircraft representative data for flight performance, aerodynamics, structural dynamics, mass properties, acoustics and vibration. * Location: *Manching* * Start: *as soon as possible* * Duration: *4-6 months* We are seeking a highly motivated master’s student to contribute to research and development in the fields of MDAO, UQ and Multi-Fidelity Modeling. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge problems that combine engineering disciplines, computational methods, and uncertainty modeling to optimize aerospace systems. This position is ideal for a student who is passionate about applying advanced computational techniques to real-world engineering challenges. Here, you can enjoy the quality of life in the countryside while the pleasures of near-by cities are still within easy reach. ## Your benefits * Attractive salary and work-life balance with a 35-hour week (flexitime). * International environment with the opportunity to network globally. * Work with modern/diversified technologies. * At Airbus, we see you as a valuable team member and you are not hired to brew coffee, instead you are in close contact with the interfaces and are part of our weekly team meetings. * Opportunity to participate in the Generation Airbus Community to expand your own network. ## ## Your tasks and responsibilities * Support and perform technologies, process, methods and tool developments for multidisciplinary analysis and optimization in aerospace systems * Investigate and apply uncertainty quantification and multifidelity techniques to enhance the reliability of optimization processes * Conduct literature reviews to identify state-of-the-art methods in MDAO, UQ, and multifidelity modeling and adapt them to relevant use-cases * Collaborate with engineers to identify and address specific challenges in aerospace applications * Test, validate, and document methodologies and tools developed during the project * Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate research findings and developments ## Desired skills and qualifications * Enrolled full-time Master student in the area of Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or an equivalent field of study. * Good knowledge of Python is necessary and familiarity with Linux is a plus * Knowledge in machine learning techniques, particularly in the context of surrogate modeling (e.g., Gaussian Processes, Polynomial Regression, Neural Networks) is a plus * Basic understanding of flight physics disciplines (aerodynamics, structures, etc.) * Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail * Good communication and documentation skills * High motivation and interest in the field of machine learning and software development * Fluent English language skills is needed
