# Fish Facility Technician
**Heidelberg** | **Full time** | **Campus based**
Working under supervision, you will be involved in the daily care, welfare animal checks and general husbandry of experimental fish colonies. You will perform basic experimental procedures, keeping necessary records and entering data onto computer systems.
**Your role:**
***Animal husbandry, care and use***
* Provide day to day routine husbandry, maintenance and care of LAR fish colonies (zebrafish, medaka, killifish).
* Maintain and establishing breeding schemes in liaison with researchers and LAR area supervisor.
* Perform scheduled water quality checks.
* Perform flow systems cleaning and basic maintenance (filters, valves, etc.).
* Follow Standard Operating Procedures for fish husbandry and procedural work.
* Maintain detailed and accurate records relating to environmental conditions, animal details, breeding and experimental procedures.
* Participate of a Culture of Care including the 3R’s and our core values.
* Support the health and welfare of fish colonies by performing routine animal welfare checks and other related tasks.
* Assist with receiving new fish and reporting any observed incidences.
* This position requires strict adherence to established protocols and biosafety practices, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a research setting.

**You have:**
* Experience of at least 3 years in a fish facility.
* Function A, C and D as per European Directive 2010/63/EC.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work as a team member in a complex environment.
* Positive attitude towards learning and developing new skills.
* Ability to follow instructions and very good attention to detail.
* Computer skills.
* Able to communicate in English in a professional environment.
**Contract length: 1 year**
