Director R&D(m/w/x)

## Job Description We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of our Research and Development team to lead and drive our R&D initiatives. In this role, you will be an essential member of our strategic leadership team, directly responsible for managing a cross-functional team that includes software developers, mechanical engineers and electronic hardware engineers. The ideal candidate combines deep scientific expertise with strong management skills and a passion for advancing healthcare. This position is based at Langer Medical’s headquarters in Waldkirch, near Freiburg, and reports directly to the General Manager. As Director R&D at Langer Medical, you will * lead, develop and execute the R&D strategy aligned with company goals and market needs * oversee the end-to-end R&D lifecycle, from concept ideation through product development to regulatory approval * manage and mentor a multidisciplinary R&D team including software developers, mechanical engineers, and electronic engineers, fostering innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning * collaborate closely with the General Manager (GM) to align R&D objectives with overall business strategy and operational goal * collaborate closely with peers in quality management, production and purchasing to ensure seamless product delivery * identify and implement improvement programs / activities in all areas of R&D * develop and maintain close relationship with clinical KOLs * coordinate deliverables with internal and external stakeholders * assess requirements and implement solutions to ensure employee development * support GM in realizing our national and international growth plans by defining and implementing the appropriate structure and processes * act as interface to Brainlab R&D teams and foster and coordinate intercompany development projects in the areas of neurosurgery, spine and data science We are looking for proactive people, eager to learn and grow, who bring their own ideas and make a difference. ## Qualifications * University degree in a field of study which is related to the Langer Medical business and R&D technologies (e.g. engineering, physics, electrical engineering, medical engineering, etc. ) * Strong record of successfully leading a mid-size to large team * Strong organizational skills and proven ability to develop and implement long-term strategies / goals * Good business sense and proven experience in business partner management * Good understanding in Medical Device development for Class II and III * Fluent communication skills in English and German ## Additional Information * A mutually-supportive, international team * Meaningful work with a lasting impact on medical technology * 30 vacation days, plus December 24th and December 31st * Flexible working hours * Regular team, and company events * Internal company fitness program * Comprehensive training and continuing education opportunities offered by Brainlab * TOP 100 innovator and employer of the future 2022
