In order to take our IT Software (IT SW) services to a higher level, Vanderlande is looking for a Delivery Manager IT Software Projects.

As a Delivery Manager IT Software Projects you are fully responsible for the successful delivery of IT SW projects, your team and the operation. You are leading a Dortmund based multi-disciplinary team of project leaders, architects and engineers (around 15 FTE) which will focus on the delivery of IT SW projects based on the Vanderlande Logistics Framework (LFW). In this role you are responsible for the delivery of the projects which are executed by people in your team. In addition, you will work as a project leader for at least 20 hours per week on the delivery of one of the projects. You are able to manage the progress of the projects and closely guard quality, lead time, costs and technical risks, taking action where necessary. In addition, the people in your team have your special attention. You will be responsible for the development of individual employees and the specific skills of your team. You support, coach, facilitate and make adjustments when necessary.

Your department

Your team is part of the Module Deployment Group Warehouse Control Systems (MDG WCS). This MDG is part of the business unit Warehouse Solutions. It delivers product knowledge and expertise regarding the WCS IT Software Modules to our Vanderlande Customer Centers around the world. Besides that, the MDG WCS delivers full life cycle support for the WCS IT Software Modules, from sales and deployment to service. In this role, you are a LFW MT member reporting to the Executive Director MDG WCS. The Delivery Manager IT Software Projects will work from both our office in Dortmund, Germany and our campus in Veghel.

Key activities of this role

Performance management:

  • Steer and control on project KPIs, e.g. budget, planning and scope

  • Report status regularly to different stakeholders (e.g. Executive Director MDG WCS, department)

Line management:

  • Build a high-performance culture in your department where people feel recognized & happy, are challenged and have fun

  • Develop and coach your team members including development of the right competences & skills

  • Act as line manager for the members of your team

  • Steer project leaders, software system architects and team leads

  • Embed the Vanderlande core values in your team

  • Keep your team informed on a regular basis

Tactical & strategic resource planning:

  • Give input to the resource planning of the department, and identify resource/competence needs to ensure a balanced multi-disciplinary project team;

  • Make long term workforce planning and organize training & hiring

Oversee projects:

  • Manage (also via Project Leaders) project planning, budgets, progress and risks & opportunities, report periodically on the status of these topics;

  • Manage timely delivery of all deliverables, including specifications, documentation, training, and service take over;

  • Monitor and mitigate risks and opportunities in projects

  • Manage escalations

  • Challenge technical solutions by participating in open-up meetings on a regular basis

  • Secures (and is accountable for) delivering quality and performance

Process adherence:

  • Make sure projects are executed according Vanderlande Process Map

  • Embed Process Map in way of working and tooling

  • Measure and analyze process adherence and implement lessons learnt and improvements

  • Organize quality control

Continuous improvement:

  • Focus on continuous development of the individual members of the team and the team as a whole

  • Define and implement improvements to improve quality, reduce costs and lead time and minimize technical risks

Your profile

General profile:

  • Bachelor or master degree

  • You are an experienced (>8 years) Project Leader, familiar with scope, planning, budget and R&O management

  • Experience in guiding and coaching a multinational team

  • Affinity with technology, IT or software

  • Willingness to travel internationally (10%) and frequently work in Dortmund (40%)

Hard skills:

  • Has knowledge of change- and configuration management and relevant tooling

  • Has business economics insight and is able to control finance and budget for his own scope

  • Has knowledge of scope management and project planning

  • Nice to have (otherwise we will educate you): Has knowledge of warehouse systems and customer processes in relevant market segments
