# Bachelorand/-in Whole Engine Thermo-Mechanical Model in SIMSOLID (f/m/d)

## Job Description
One important aspect of turbomachinery efficiency is the tip clearance between rotor blade and casing. In order to avoid too much wear, future applications target a small contact between rotating and static part (so called kiss systems). This requires a design to control and minimise ovalisation and other non-symmetries of the casing.
Within the bachelor thesis a whole engine thermo-mechanical model of the static components shall be created with Altair SIMSOLID to allow conceptual studies of the different effects and to give design guidance to the future design
**Key accountabilities:**
* Familiarisation with SIMSOLID and the thermal modelling of the different components
* Setting up the component models and joining these to a whole engine model (Thermal, stress and structural)
* Investigating the different effects driving the non-symmetries
* Derive design guidance
**Qualifications:**
* Study in a scientific discipline like mechanical engineering or computer science
* Knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer
* Basic skills in NX
* Affinity to FE codes
* Creativity in finding solutions
* Ability to work as part of a Team
* Good communication skills, verbal and written
* Fluent English, good command of English writing
