# Bachelor or master thesis in the field of electrochemical processes in Straubing
In the Innovation Field of Sustainable Catalytic Processes, we develop methods to the sustainable green transition to a circular economy in industrial chemical production. Through electrocatalytic power-to-X-to-Y processes, CO2 can be converted into platform chemicals. Bachelor's or Master's theses in our group are involved in the preparation of electrodes and its characterization in electrochemical processes. In addition, there is a focus on upscaling to bridge the gap between laboratory and industrial applications. Topics of interests are electrochemical CO2 reduction and electrochemical upgrade of bio-based compounds.
**What you will do**
* Work with electrochemical cells
* Literature research on the state of the art
* Preparation of electrodes containing active catalysts
* Evaluation of electrochemical performance
* Correlations between raw materials, operating parameters and production rate
* Evaluation, discussion, and periodic reporting of results
**What you bring to the table**
* Suitable for Bachelor's/Master's students in chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, electrical engineering, physical chemistry or similar courses
* Experience/knowledge in electrochemistry (cyclic voltammetry, electrolysis), organic/inorganic synthesis, material characterization (SEM, XRD, FTIR) and analytics (GC- / LC-MS) is an advantage
* Enjoy experimental work in the laboratory, ability to work in an international team, commitment and sense of responsibility
**What you can expect**
* Participation on current projects with clear objectives
* Room for independent work and creative collaboration
* Attractive specialization topic with high interest from industries
