# Bachelor-/ Master Thesis: »Quality assurance system for augmented reality components«
At the Fraunhofer IPT in Aachen, we work with more than 530 employees every day to make the production of the future more digital, more flexible and more sustainable. In the department »Production Quality«, we focus on increasing productivity and cost-effectiveness in production systems by analyzing and optimizing the quality of both processes and products. In collaboration with Carl ZEISS Vision GmbH in Aalen, we are developing advanced production systems for high-quality, regulatory-compliant manufacturing of augmented reality (AR) components.
The growing demand for AR devices requires strict manufacturing standards to ensure performance, safety, and regulatory compliance. As part of your thesis, you will work on site at the Carl ZEISS Vision GmbH production facility in Aalen. You will investigate the development of test protocols for quality assurance of optoelectronic AR components in the key phases of assembly, testing, and shipping (Final Assembly, Test, and Pack – FATP). The focus will be on analyzing electrical and optical quality characteristics in compliance with regulations for medical devices and electronics.
**What you will do**
* Analysis and description of FATP processes
* Research of relevant norms and standards
* Conducting expert interviews to record requirements and validate the test protocols developed
* Design and development of test protocols for ensuring electrical and optical quality characteristics
* Implementation of the developed test protocols by setting up a functional test station
* Validation of test protocols with regard to the defined requirements
* Scientific documentation of the development process
**What you bring to the table**
* You are studying mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, or a comparable field of study
* You are interested in production engineering and the transfer of theoretical concepts into real-world applications
* You have gained practical experience in production engineering
* A high level of motivation, willingness to learn, and analytical thinking
* A high degree of initiative, independence, motivation, and interdisciplinary teamwork
* Good language skills in German and/or English
**What you can expect**
* Ideal conditions for practical experience alongside your studies
* Professional supervision and collaboration in a dedicated team
* A state-of-the-art machine park equipped with edge cloud systems and 5G infrastructure
* Flexible working to combine study and job in the best possible way
* Competitive and fair compensation for your thesis from Carl ZEISS Vision GmbH
