###### Permanent employee, Full-time ·Essen,Remote

##### Are you ready to save the planet?
We will help prevent a climate crisis by freeing the world from fossil fuels. Our breakthrough direct air capture technology captures CO₂ from the atmosphere and produces hydrogen in parallel.
The clock is ticking. What are you waiting for?
Our goals are ambitious. We need people who are inspired and motivated to turn these aspirations into reality—to grow and develop with us.
We are looking for an experienced individual in the field of accounting to support us with preparatory accounting tasks and to help us build structures for further company growth. You will be responsible for preparing materials for our external tax advisor and for helping to continuously improve the quality of our financial data. A particular focus lies in the correct allocation of costs to cost centers and projects—especially for the proper accounting of our publicly funded projects. As the company continues to grow, there is the potential to increase both working hours and responsibilities over time.
##### How you'll contribute
**Specifically, you will:**
* Prepare ongoing accounting for handover to our tax advisor
* Check, digitally file, and systematically manage all receipts and invoices
* Ensure correct posting to cost centers and projects (cost carriers)
* Support project managers with project-specific cost allocation, especially for publicly funded projects
* Reconcile open items and assist in payment management
* Improve data quality in actual reporting
* Further develop efficient processes in collaboration with other departments such as Procurement and Controlling
* Optional: Support preparatory payroll accounting
### Your first 12 months in the role: expectations and deliverables
**Months 0–3**
* Get to know our financial processes, tools, and documentation standards
* Take over preparatory accounting for the current months
* Establish an organized system for digital document management
* Coordinate with the tax advisor and support the monthly closing process
* Analyze risks in existing or planned contracts and provide pragmatic recommendations
* Actively support internal processes from a legal perspective—e.g., on grant projects or team matters
**Months 3–6**
* Independently conduct preparatory accounting, including document review, account reconciliation, and payment preparation
* Ensure accurate and traceable cost center and project allocation
* Collaborate with project managers to properly book project costs for grant reporting
* Begin establishing stable routines for monthly closings and advisor coordination
**Months 6–12**
* Build a support structure for grant-compliant project accounting
* Contribute proactively to the further development of our finance function toward growth and professionalization
* Continue improving cross-functional financial workflows
##### About you
* Completed training as a financial accountant or certified accountant
* Sound knowledge of accounting according to the German Commercial Code (HGB) is required; knowledge of German tax law (especially VAT) is a plus
* Independent, structured, and meticulous working style
* Experience in cost center and project accounting
* Experience with DATEV or similar systems is desirable
* Payroll knowledge is a plus but not required
* Motivation to actively shape a growing company
* Fluent English language skills
##### What we offer
* Flexible working hours (ideal for parents, freelancers, or returnees)
* 30 vacation days for full-time (pro-rated for part-time) plus public holidays—to ensure you have time to rest and recharge
* The opportunity to shape your role and grow with the company
* Open, transparent communication about company development
* Meaningful work in a climate-relevant deep-tech company
* A respectful team culture and short decision-making paths
