Requirements

  • University degree in oceanography, physics, meteorology or related discipline
  • Effective English working ability
  • Some knowledge of French
  • Knowledge of other Member State language (asset)
  • In-depth knowledge of satellite/other observations in marine/oceanographic applications
  • Good knowledge of satellite marine products, algorithms, and use in ocean models/value chain
  • Experience with/support of operational/research marine user community
  • Experience using tools for processing/visualizing satellite products
  • Understanding of GIS-based approaches and web map services
  • Practice of scripting/programming languages (Python and/or R) (advantage)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Presentation, moderating, and facilitating skills
  • Willingness and experience in sharing information
  • Openness towards users and their perspectives

Tasks

  • Lead marine user engagement planning, implementation, and reporting.
  • Engage with member states, European, global services, and research.
  • Develop internal and external networks for application development.
  • Develop and maintain marine user engagement plans, including resources.
  • Contribute to the cross-thematic engagement management team.
  • Provide consolidated user feedback using the feedback process.
  • Coordinate with other application leads on cross-application issues.
  • Define, implement, and evaluate marine product training.
  • Focus training on science-based operational applications.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain training resources.
  • Build a network with specialized institutions and experts.
  • Contribute to the EUMETSAT training case study library.
  • Coordinate with CMEMS and Copernicus partners on user engagement.
  • Support coordinated operations and planning.
  • Support marine application outreach and promotion.
  • Provide expert support to marine data users.
  • Provide first-line support for marine product inquiries.
  • Contribute to EUMETSAT user feedback management.
  • Provide expert input for marine product information, including guides and case studies.
  • Support other application areas like hydrology and water management.
