Field Application Scientist – Vibrational Spectroscopy (FTIR / Raman / FT-NIR)(m/w/x)
Technical leadership for industrial sample analysis in environmental protection and food safety. Strict cleanroom protocol adherence and work with hazardous materials required. Field-based role with significant customer travel.
Requirements
- Adherence to GMP Safety Standards
- Cleanroom protocol adherence (no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair)
- Work in laboratory setting
- Use of PPE (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs)
- Work with hazardous/toxic materials
- Live within commuting distance
- Approximately 50% travel (DACH, EMEA)
- Approximately 50% travel (DACH, EMEA)
- Lab-based and customer-site engagement
- BSc in Physical Chemistry, Materials Science, Analytical Chemistry, or equivalent experience
- Preferred: MSc or PhD in Physical Chemistry, Materials Science, Analytical Chemistry, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years hands-on FTIR instrument operation, including microscopy
- Experience handling/preparing industrial sample matrices
- Spectral and data interpretation (FTIR, FT-NIR, Raman, FTIR microscopy)
- Hands-on troubleshooting and instrument confidence
- Advantageous: Customer trainings, method development, feasibility demonstrations, commercial team support
- Deep technical competence in spectroscopy (FTIR, FT-NIR, Raman, microscopy)
- Strong analytical problem-solving and root-cause thinking
- Excellent written/verbal communication for customer reports
- Strong time management, prioritization, independent work
- Customer-first mindset, translating technical trade-offs
- Technical expertise in industrial spectroscopy applications
- Strong collaboration with commercial/technical teams
- High accountability and lab operations ownership
- Efficient execution in high-demand, travel-intensive environment

Tasks
- Provide expert technical leadership for industrial sample analysis.
