Senior Counsel, Commercial & Employment (EMEA)(m/w/x)

Requirements
- 7+ years of general relevant legal experience
- At least 5 years in-house experience focused on commercial enterprise SaaS transactions
- Understanding of SaaS contracting norms and market terms
- Experience supporting sales and go-to-market activities in biotech, healthcare, or life sciences industries
- Experience navigating employment law across multiple European jurisdictions
- Qualified attorney or solicitor (or EU equivalent) with experience in an English-speaking jurisdiction
- Proven ability to provide entrepreneurial, pragmatic, and business-oriented legal advice
- Ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable frameworks for non-legal colleagues
- Comfortable operating autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Team player with strong partnership-building skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, reliable, and diligent
- Ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously and set appropriate priorities

Tasks
- Manage the full lifecycle of commercial contracts for EMEA operations
- Structure, draft, and negotiate SaaS agreements
- Draft professional services and outsourcing agreements
- Negotiate partner agreements, DPAs, and security addendums
- Collaborate with EMEA sales and revenue operations teams
- Provide strategic legal advice on complex issues
- Ensure timely support for customer negotiations
- Develop and implement localized contracting policies and practices
- Evolve training programs for EMEA sales on negotiation best practices
- Assess risks associated with non-standard legal positions
- Implement practical mitigation strategies with cross-functional teams
- Provide guidance to senior stakeholders on legal risks
- Partner with HR and business leaders on European employment law matters
- Identify and mitigate employment legal risks and disputes
- Manage relationships with local outside counsel
- Guide the business on hiring, compensation, and benefits
- Maintain knowledge of European laws related to privacy and data protection
- Advise on implications of laws for Benchling's business in EMEA
