- Significant international commodity trading experience
- Proven track record managing commercial relationships in China
- Demonstrated experience building and leading trading teams
- Strong understanding of international trade, logistics, supply chains, risk management
- Existing network in Chinese commodity trading sector
- Ability to travel regularly to China and international markets
- Experience in agricultural commodities, coffee, edible nuts, grains, soft commodities, energy products, or related sectors
- Previous experience establishing new trading desk, business unit, or regional operation
- Experience working within international trading house
Tasks
- Develop and execute China trading strategy
- Identify and develop new trading opportunities
- Build and maintain key relationships
- Lead commercial negotiations
- Drive revenue growth and profitability
- Create scalable market-entry and growth strategy
- Build company reputation in Chinese market
- Identify office locations and expansion opportunities
- Represent company in China-related activities
- Recruit and manage China-focused trading team
- Build capabilities in trading and logistics
- Set performance objectives and accountability
- Mentor future trading leaders
- Monitor market developments and regulatory changes
- Provide market intelligence and strategic recommendations
- Identify emerging opportunities and risks
- Collaborate with Operations, Logistics, Risk, Finance, Compliance, and Legal teams
- Ensure smooth trading execution and policy adherence
- Support new product and market development
- Represent company at industry events
- Develop strong industry relationships
