Requirements

  • MSc/PhD in materials science/engineering, polymer science, paper engineering, or related field
  • Exposure to food and beverage packaging
  • Proven R&D/technical development experience in packaging materials
  • Experience with fiber-based, polymers/bio-based, coatings/adhesives, barrier layers, laminates
  • Lab work and structured experimentation experience
  • Familiarity with packaging material converting/manufacturing processes
  • Ability to incorporate manufacturability constraints into design
  • Experience with converters is a plus
  • Awareness of food-contact constraints and product safety/quality
  • Ability to work with regulatory and quality teams
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with external partners
  • Contribution to strategic thinking
  • Digital agility

  • Focus on translating scientific concepts into business solutions

Tasks

  • Lead research projects on novel packaging materials
  • Execute scale-up and industrial validation of material structures
  • Plan and execute converting trials with partners
  • Translate trial learnings into improved material designs
  • Develop barrier solutions for food and beverage applications
  • Stay updated on recyclability regulations and circularity frameworks
  • Ensure material structures align with regulatory requirements
  • Translate packaging needs into material requirements
  • Execute characterization and test plans for material performance
  • Develop and maintain expertise in packaging materials
  • Contribute to intellectual property through inventions and patents
