Requirements

  • Practical skills, knowledge, and experience in design appraisals
  • Solid background in structural engineering
  • Technical skills in related machinery and control systems
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience serving international clients
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Naval Architecture or equivalent
  • Chartered/Professional qualification and member of relevant professional institution
  • At least five years experience in Lifting Appliance structural design/plan appraisal
  • Thorough knowledge on design principles/structural idealization/loadings of lifting appliances
  • Sound understanding of governing design conditions and rule/code requirements
  • Good experience in structural analysis (FEA) of lifting appliance structures
  • Working knowledge of any prominently used FE software, DLUBAL RFEM
  • Experience in application of fatigue design Codes and Standards
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others
  • Ability to manage tasks to meet LR and client deadlines
  • Ability to maintain strong performance in demanding situations
  • Good skill to conduct technical conversation with clients
  • Ability to maintain good relationships with clients with client focus mind-set
  • Proficiency in English Language commensurate with work
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Dutch language skills considered a good additional qualification

Tasks

  • Conduct independent examinations and complex FEA calculations
  • Appraise lifting appliances including heavy lift cranes and offshore tools
  • Evaluate design aspects according to LR Code and international standards
  • Examine and approve technical documents and reports
  • Coordinate design appraisal and certification projects
  • Collaborate with international offices and various disciplines
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to colleagues
  • Serve as point of contact for Lifting Appliances questions
  • Support internal and external clients
