Requirements

  • Completed Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Prior experience with battery cell design (preferably cylindrical cells) or battery industry relations
  • Experience with mass production and manufacturability
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks
  • Very good modelling skills
  • Great at creating and reading technical drawings
  • Understanding of cell design and relevant electrical parameters
  • Capability of using hand- and power tools
  • High proficiency in technical writing
  • Understanding of quality tools (DFMEA, Significant characteristics)
  • Fluent English language skills
  • German language skills (advantageous)
  • Interpersonal skills: independency, resourcefulness, time management, internal drive
  • Open and keen communicator, explains thought process
  • Able to bring forward new ideas and receive constructive criticism

Tasks

  • Design, improve, and manage supercapacitor cells with cell and SuperBattery engineers
  • Create and maintain design documentation, including models, drawings, and risk assessments
  • Produce deliverables according to the development process
  • Collaborate with industrial engineers on stable manufacturing of designs
  • Report to and work with the mechanical engineering team on design solutions
  • Find design solutions to meet product target requirements
  • Build prototypes and conduct testing to validate design solutions
  • Supervise product manufacturing when necessary
  • Communicate with component suppliers and procurement to find suitable solutions
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure designs meet target costs
