Description

You will lead the technical architecture and a small engineering team to build a secure Quantum Key Distribution system, bridging the gap between high-performance Python services and hardware.

Requirements

• •5+ years of Python backend development
• •3+ years owning service architecture and leadership
• •Strong Linux async Python and concurrency skills
• •Proficiency in profiling and tuning
• •Proven hardware, FPGA, or embedded integration
• •Stable control and data-plane API design
• •Experience with CI/CD and automated testing
• •Production observability and incident practices
• •Security-by-default mindset and crypto hygiene
• •Knowledge of relational, key-value, or time-series stores
• •Proficiency in written and spoken English
• •Ability to be on-site in Munich
• •Desirable experience with QKD or cryptography
• •Exposure to C/C++ or embedded ecosystems
• •Familiarity with gRPC, Protobuf, and Kubernetes

Tasks

• •Own the overall backend architecture
• •Lead and mentor software engineers
• •Define module boundaries and service APIs
• •Coordinate with optics and FPGA teams
• •Implement high-performance Python services on Linux
• •Optimize QKD post-processing algorithms
• •Maintain hardware interfaces over UART and PCIe
• •Build simulators and mocks for development
• •Manage downstream system integrations
• •Maintain CI/CD pipelines with Docker
• •Establish observability and operational runbooks
• •Embed security and cryptographic hygiene
• •Drive incident response and root-cause analysis
• •Track performance benchmarking and latency regressions
