Requirements

  • 5–8 years analytics engineering/data engineering experience
  • 2–3 years people management experience
  • Deep dbt expertise (Core or Cloud)
  • Advanced dbt modeling, macros, testing, documentation
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Cloud data warehouse fluency (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks)
  • E-commerce or retail data domain experience
  • Experience with orders, returns, inventory data
  • Experience with customer lifetime value data
  • Experience with product performance data
  • Experience with digital funnels data
  • Track record building high-trust data products
  • Well-documented, tested data products
  • Data product adoption by stakeholders
  • Experience managing stakeholder relationships
  • Translating ambiguous business questions to data work
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Conveying technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience with semantic/metrics layer
  • Familiarity with real-time data pipelines
  • Familiarity with near-real-time data pipelines
  • Retail use case data pipelines (inventory, price)
  • Exposure to ML feature engineering
  • Working with data science teams on shared infrastructure
  • Experience with BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Metabase)
  • Understanding of modeling impact on reporting performance

Tasks

  • Lead and grow a team of analytics engineers
  • Provide mentorship and technical direction
  • Design and govern core data models
  • Define standards for dbt project structure
  • Enforce testing, documentation, and code review
  • Drive adoption of semantic layer for KPI definitions
  • Collaborate with merchandising, marketing, finance, and operations
  • Translate business requirements into data models
  • Establish and track data SLAs
  • Lead incident response for data quality issues
  • Evaluate and evolve modern data stack
  • Represent analytics engineering in cross-functional planning
  • Participate in roadmapping and executive stakeholder conversations
