Research Manager(m/w/x)
Leading AI researchers in post-training LLMs for next-gen translation. PhD or equivalent ML research depth required. Hybrid work, flexible hours, diverse team.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or comparable quantitative discipline, or strong ML background with equivalent research depth
- Publication experience at top-tier venues (meaningful signal, not hard requirement)
- Strong foundation in deep learning and large-scale model training, preferably with LLM post-training experience
- Proven experience leading researcher/ML engineer teams, developing talent, maintaining delivery rigour, balancing academic quality and commercial timelines
- Openness to earlier-stage managers with genuine conviction around people leadership
- Comfortable operating across full model development lifecycle, including infrastructure and compute constraints
- Excellent communication skills, translating complex research to clear goals for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Solution-oriented and decisive, navigating ambiguity and driving outcomes without direction

Tasks
- Lead a team of specialist researchers
- Post-train models for next-generation translation products
- Develop algorithms and systems for model alignment
- Shape future model capabilities and user experiences
- Drive technical direction and people leadership
- Focus on specific, defensible AI capabilities
- Participate in technical discussions and experimental reviews
- Make architectural decisions shaping team operations
- Build strong individual development plans
- Foster a candid and constructive feedback culture
- Maintain high standards of research rigour and delivery
- Own the team's research roadmap in Reinforcement Learning
- Collaborate with senior ICs and cross-functional stakeholders
- Define and communicate strategic goals and success metrics
- Act as primary technical interface with adjacent functions
- Ensure well-scoped, well-communicated, and timely research output
- Identify, assess, and recruit research talent
- Operate with high autonomy in ambiguous environments
- Balance near-term product commitments with long-term research
