Photonics Research Engineer – Connectivity for Integrated Optical Circuits(m/w/x)

Requirements
- BA, MS, or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Hands-on design and testing of optical assemblies, lens mounts, precision actuators, alignment mechanisms
- Ability to solve technical problems with creative solutions and understanding of engineering principles
- Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical concepts
- Knowledge of fabrication technologies (precision machining, 3D printing)
- Experience with optical setups (high precision alignment stages, power meters, tunable lasers, spectrum analyzers)
- Experience with adhesive technology
- Knowledge in clean room semiconductor process and electronic packaging
- Understanding of cleanroom protocols, vacuum systems, or micro-assembly
Tasks
- Design precision optical and mechanical systems
- Leverage skills in tolerancing and DFM
- Explore novel assembly and packaging concepts
- Combine opto-mechanical design with semiconductor processes
- Apply knowledge of optical alignment and mounting
- Evaluate and prototype optomechanical solutions

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Interface with vendors and suppliers
- Innovate in optical connectivity
- Coordinate design efforts with engineers
- Instruct technicians on experiments
- Coordinate product evaluation with test labs
- Provide prototypes for customer meetings
- Use analytical design and problem-solving
- Communicate designs and performance data
- Meet project milestones and cost targets
