Mission Assurance Engineer(m/w/x)
Developing end-to-end mission assurance strategy for reusable orbital vehicles. Master's degree in engineering or science with reliability tools proficiency required. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship offered.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in engineering or science
- Proficiency with reliability tools (e.g., FMECA, FTA, RBDs)
- Understanding of fault tolerance, redundancy management, failure detection/isolation/recovery
- Technical knowledge of spacecraft systems and operations
- Strong written and verbal communication of technical information
- Effective project and task management with aggressive deadlines
- Resilience under pressure and in the face of technical challenges
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Experience developing and validating FDIR logic, watchdog strategies, fault response sequences
- Customer-facing role experience with design requirements, test acceptance, verification (especially government customer)
- Passion for advancing commercial space industry and human spaceflight
Tasks
- Own end-to-end mission assurance strategy
- Embed with design, test, and operations teams
- Drive vehicle safety architecture
- Meet safety and reliability requirements
- Assess pre-flight risks and mitigations
- Perform and review FMECA, FTA, PRA, and RAM analyses
- Identify risks and failure modes
- Define spacecraft fault management architecture
- Validate FDIR architecture
- Implement fault management strategies
- Ensure safe behavior under off-nominal conditions
- Support on-console operations
- Drive in-flight anomaly resolution
- Feed lessons learned into design and FDIR improvements
- Champion mission assurance culture
- Instill first-principles thinking
- Promote disciplined verification
- Encourage data-driven decision-making
- Report RAMS status to program leadership
- Report residual risk and flight readiness
- Drive corrective actions from anomalies
- Address test failures and operational events
- Improve design based on feedback
