Requirements

  • •PhD in materials sciences, physics, chemistry, or related discipline
  • •Proven experience in material's mechanics applied to functional materials
  • •Additional experience in mechanics of complex soft and biological samples
  • •Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • •Strong problem-solving skills
  • •Ability to manage multiple projects with internal and external partners
  • •Fluency in English and ideally in German

Tasks

  • •Provide expert advice on mechanical and thermal characterization methodologies
  • •Train and co-supervise facility users
  • •Contribute to data analysis and maintain a Research Data Management Plan
  • •Develop hands-on methods for advanced materials characterization
  • •Expand the methodological portfolio in line with research questions
  • •Support correlative characterization efforts at the institute
  • •Maintain day-to-day equipment operations in the facility
  • •Engage in scientific exchange with internal and external partners
  • •Publish and present research results at meetings
