Requirements
- Experience in Penning traps operation
- Previous work with CAD programs
- Experience with Particle-In-Cell simulation programs
- Familiarity with high-voltage installations
- Knowledge of RFQ cooler-bunchers
- Understanding of non-neutral plasmas
- Mechanical design and BricsCAD skills
- Proficiency in Python
- Experience with CST particle tracking
- English or French language skills
- CERN Member State nationality
- Physics background and relevant degree
- No previous CERN fellow contract
- Willingness to work in Radiation Areas
- Exposure to electromagnetic fields
- Ability to obtain medical clearance
Tasks
- Produce a complete spare internal drift-tube structure
- Investigate and mitigate internal Penning trap discharges
- Redesign the injection stage to increase transmission efficiency
- Model trap components using RF-Track for space-charge investigations
- Oversee acceptance tests and magnetic field measurements for solenoids
- Conduct cooling and bunching tests with Paul traps
- Design and modify internal mechanical trap components
- Perform non-neutral plasma simulations and functional testing
