Requirements

  • Master’s degree in agronomy, International relations, Business or project management
  • Leading climate or environmental strategies at scale
  • Understanding of carbon accounting principles, agroforestry systems, regenerative agriculture, and landscape interventions
  • Understanding of environmental impacts on farmer livelihoods and communities
  • Ability to operate as senior individual contributor with influence
  • Handled complex projects from a Matrix organization
  • Budget management experience
  • Experience working in agriculture

Tasks

  • Lead implementation of Hershey’s cocoa environmental and climate strategy
  • Lead responsible palm sourcing strategy, including human rights and environmental due diligence
  • Manage environmental and climate-related sourcing risks, including deforestation and Scope 3 emissions
  • Provide environmental authority and strategic direction for cocoa and palm sourcing
  • Develop climate-smart cocoa pathways across all origins and farm sizes
  • Define long-term approaches to GHG emissions reduction and land use
  • Advance agroforestry, regenerative agriculture, water stewardship, and biodiversity conservation
  • Ensure strategies are scalable, evidence-based, and aligned with company commitments
  • Translate environmental strategy into clear requirements and decision frameworks
  • Guide key sourcing, supplier, and investment decisions with environmental expertise
  • Shape environmental requirements for suppliers, landscapes, and origin programs
  • Partner with Global Sustainability, Legal, Responsible Sourcing, and R&D teams
  • Ensure environmental methodologies, metrics, and claims are credible and auditable
  • Use environmental data and analytics to inform cost-benefit decisions
  • Contribute environmental recommendations and risk assessments to governance forums
  • Represent Hershey as an environmental and climate leader in industry forums
  • Ensure external communications are grounded in technical credibility
  • Engage with peers, NGOs, governments, and research partners to shape sector-wide solutions
