Requirements
- PhD in computer science, data science, natural sciences, or related field

- Good oral and written communication in English and Swiss national language

- Experience with satellite data
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Experience in machine learning, ideally deep learning architectures
- Experience with high-performance or distributed computing
- Good understanding of meteorological processes and NWP
- Interest in DevOps practices and sustainable software engineering
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Motivation for interdisciplinary and international environment
- National of EUMETSAT Member States
Tasks
- Develop machine-learning model architectures for satellite data ingestion
- Implement models in state-of-the-art regional forecasting systems
- Contribute to the evolution of multi-encoder-decoder MLWP framework
- Train and fine-tune models using large-scale meteorological datasets
- Evaluate model performance across variables and lead times
- Quantify the impact of satellite data on forecast accuracy
- Collaborate with scientists, ML researchers, and forecasting teams
- Ensure forecast outputs meet diverse user needs
- Disseminate findings through scientific publications
- Present results at conferences and to partner institutions
