Requirements
- German language skills (min B2)
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or equivalent
- 5–10 years experience in automation technologies, pharmaceutical industry
- 8+ years leadership experience in pharmaceutical industry
- 5+ years experience in Execution Systems/Automation design and support
- Process automation, MES, batch manufacturing industry standards (ISA S88 &S95)
- Designing, building, deploying, supporting automation/execution systems in regulated manufacturing
- Running site-based shop floor systems in globally distributed footprint
- Delivering projects via external providers and partners
- Ability to influence at all organizational levels
- Ability to build, mentor, grow high performing team
- Functional knowledge of cGMPs and manufacturing operations
- Automation & Execution Systems Expertise
Tasks
- Provide daily automation ownership for manufacturing value stream
- Ensure high system availability and performance for 24/7 operations
- Lead troubleshooting, change control, and incident response
- Ensure compliance with GAMP 5, GxP, and data integrity standards
- Communicate system status, risks, and improvement plans to leadership
- Serve as system owner for value stream automation
- Execute lifecycle management activities like upgrades and patching
- Maintain systems in a validated state with CSV and Quality
- Align with ISA-88/ISA-95 models and site/global OT architecture
- Support long-range planning for system sustainment and modernization
- Maintain recipes, phases, equipment modules, and MES master data
- Optimize control strategies and batch execution with Engineering and Operations
- Ensure recipe changes follow proper change control and validation
- Monitor and trend automation KPIs for improvement opportunities
- Lead automation scope for Tier 2/Tier 3 OpEx and capital projects
- Support design reviews, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and hypercare
- Ensure projects meet global OT standards, cybersecurity, and validation
- Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and I&T during projects
- Manage small to mid-size automation initiatives within value stream
- Serve as primary automation interface for cross-functional teams
- Support audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions
- Align local execution with enterprise automation standards
