Requirements

  • Advanced university degree in engineering, sciences, economics, development studies, business administration, international relations or relevant discipline
  • At least seven years of professional experience in technical cooperation project management or portfolio project management including international exposure
  • Ability to research and analyse information, make linkages with strategic vision and recommend solutions
  • Ability to write in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to work effectively in multi-cultural teams (desirable)
  • Experience evaluating needs, conditions and problems in developing countries (desirable)
  • Familiarity with food systems and food security in developing countries, especially in Africa (desirable)
  • Experience within UN system, Donors community and in Sudan or similar countries in sub-Saharan Africa (desirable)
  • Knowledge of international development agenda and strategic issues on climate change and sustainable livelihoods (desirable)
  • Experience with UNIDO project management cycle and SAP (desirable)
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Fluency and/or working knowledge of another official UN language (desirable)

Tasks

  • Assist in implementing projects in Sudan
  • Formulate and design new projects
  • Appraise and adjust project proposals
  • Monitor program execution
  • Identify and address project issues
  • Develop and administer technical cooperation projects
  • Analyze economic, social, and political factors
  • Reflect analysis in development plans and proposals
  • Appraise suitability of proposed programs and projects
  • Recommend project approval
  • Identify development project possibilities
  • Assess feasibility and impact of projects
  • Formulate and present project proposals
  • Introduce new project modalities and practices
  • Guide and coordinate project proposal drafting
  • Expedite and endorse project submissions
  • Provide technical advice to stakeholders
  • Develop project management schedules and methods
  • Exchange information with government and donor officials
  • Monitor project execution systematically
  • Utilize information for corrective actions
  • Organize and conduct project briefings and debriefings
  • Support field project team
  • Follow M&E section of PRODOCs
  • Maintain full financial records for auditing
  • Assess execution of technical assistance activities
  • Identify and address resource and financial issues
  • Propose corrective actions
