Requirements
- First-level university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) in International Relations, Political Science, Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences or Economics, or relevant field
- Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) or Doctorate in relevant fields with reduced experience requirement
- Minimum 15 years relevant professional experience with Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 12 years relevant professional experience with Master's degree
- Minimum 10 years relevant professional experience with Doctorate
- Progressively responsible professional experience leading/directing teams
- Minimum 5 years experience in senior managerial position, preferably international
- Experience in leadership, high level negotiations and dealings with institutional stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to maintain relationships with governments, UN entities, donors, development partners, Permanent Missions and institutional stakeholders at senior levels
- Experience in leading field operations or regional coordination, especially in multi-stakeholder and cross-border contexts
- Experience with UN Development System (UNDS) reform, including UNCT processes, UNSDCF planning, CCA contributions and joint initiatives
- Proven interpersonal, negotiation and representational skills
- Ability to convey organizational messages clearly to internal and external audiences
- Demonstrated ability to integrate gender equality and inclusive practices into organizational processes, strategies and programmes
- Familiarity with institutional results reporting to senior management, governing bodies or external stakeholders in an international context
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Fluency in written and spoken French
- Fluency in or working knowledge of another official United Nations language (Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian)

- Manage the Division’s work and strategic priorities
- Assist in UNIDO’s strategic positioning globally
- Strengthen UNIDO’s global presence and political engagement
- Streamline programmatic approaches and build partnerships
- Formulate and monitor divisional priorities and results
- Deliver groundbreaking work for UNIDO’s mandate
- Create an empowering and enabling environment
- Build and maintain institutional relationships
- Achieve cross-functional results
- Establish new standards of performance
- Coordinate regional field network activities
- Foster engagement with Member States and Permanent Missions
- Ensure transparent communication and stakeholder consultation
- Develop and operationalize regional strategies
- Lead regional partnerships and programmes
- Convene regional forums and support field offices
- Guide strategic formulation of Country Partnership Programmes
- Align programmes with national and regional priorities
- Lead country-level strategic programming and analysis
- Contribute to resource mobilization and industrial policy monitoring
- Oversee responses to programmatic requests from Member States
- Represent UNIDO in UN Country Teams
- Develop structured and strategic country programming
- Monitor annual implementation plans of field offices
- Coordinate donor and UN partner mapping efforts
- Advance corporate priorities and UNDS reform
- Maintain strategic relations with governments and partners
- Guide regional and subregional strategy development
- Participate in cross-organizational teams
- Prepare for high-level missions and visits
- Lead field office operations and resource management
- Optimize human and financial resource utilization
- Promote decentralization of programmatic activities
- Strengthen collaboration between field offices and headquarters
- Monitor implementation of the UR/UCR Performance Compact
- Champion corporate capacity-building initiatives
- Align field operations with MTPF and corporate monitoring
- Guide field office involvement in TC activities
- Ensure high-quality operational guidance
- Provide strategic leadership to the Division
- Manage the Division’s human and financial resources
- Ensure robust management controls and reporting
- Support efficient task distribution and cross-functional collaboration
- Contribute to special projects and assignments
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement
- Promote Results-Based Management principles
