External Relations Officer(m/w/x)
Supporting UNIDO policymaking organ sessions, co-leading draft decision consultations, and overseeing Development Dialogues. Advanced degree in International Relations or related field required. Work with international partners on sustainable industrial development.
Requirements
- First-level university degree in International Relations, International Affairs, Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Diplomacy or related field
- Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) or Doctorate in same fields accepted with reduced experience requirement
- Progressively responsible relevant professional experience, including international level, in external relations, international cooperation, policy or intergovernmental processes, liaison with Member States and institutional partners
- Proven skills and ability in identifying and resolving problems in institutional external relations
- Ability to deal with complex and sensitive issues through United Nations governing bodies
- Knowledge and experience in dealing with diplomatic missions
- Proven conceptual analytical and evaluative skills, ability to conduct independent research meticulously and recommend solutions
- Very good oral and written communication skills, including proven ability to write clearly and concisely
- Strong interpersonal skills, proven ability to work harmoniously in a team and ability to work in multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint), internet and content management systems (Drupal/TYPO3) desirable
- Experience with virtual conferencing platforms and related software desirable
- Fluency in written and spoken English required
- Fluency in or working knowledge of other United Nations languages, particularly French, desirable
Tasks
- Contribute to organizing UNIDO policymaking organ sessions
- Co-lead preparations and in-session consultations on draft decisions
- Review pre-session documentation for UN editorial standards
- Oversee preparations and follow-up of Development Dialogues and briefings
- Follow up on outcomes of policymaking organ sessions
- Oversee preparations and follow-up of Consultative Sessions
- Coordinate UNIDO’s strategic stakeholder engagement approach
- Collaborate to maintain a robust Client Relationship Management tool
- Conduct research to guide engagement activities
- Coordinate meetings with key stakeholders
- Advise on engagement tools and key messages
- Ensure alignment of institutional engagement activities
- Coordinate strategic engagement activities for organizational visibility
- Prepare and follow up on the Director General’s engagement programme
- Advise on stakeholder management and policymaking organ procedures
- Perform other tasks as assigned
